About this sailing
A river route that rewards attention to detail
The Rhine in November is composed, unhurried, and genuinely beautiful. Fewer crowds. Autumn light on medieval stone. A pace that allows you to be present rather than moving through a checklist.
This is a small group sailing organized through RLS Travel Company. Seven nights, eight ports. One well-considered itinerary designed for adults who prefer depth over volume.

Day by day
The itinerary
Amsterdam to Basel. Eight ports across seven nights.
Day 1 - Amsterdam
Embarkation. Board AmaSiena and settle in as Amsterdam's waterways welcome you aboard.
Day 2- Day 2 - Amsterdam / Utrecht
A canal cruise through Amsterdam's 165 waterways, then onward to Utrecht. Explore the city on a walking tour or join a beer tasting in one of its historic cellars.
Day 3 - Dusseldorf / Cologne
Dusseldorf's grand boulevards and a tasting of Altbier, brewed here by traditional methods. Or venture to Cologne's enchanting Old Town, including Germany's oldest town hall and the 12th-century Fishmarket.
Day 4 - Rhine Gorge / Rudesheim
Scenic cruising through the UNESCO Rhine Gorge. In Rudesheim, choose from a wine tasting, gondola ride above the vineyards, vineyard hike, or guided bike tour of the Rheingau. End the day with Rudesheimer coffee, ceremoniously prepared with brandy and whipped cream.
Day 5 - Ludwigshafen / Heidelberg
Three excursion options: Heidelberg's preserved medieval city and red sandstone castle, a hike along the Philosopher's Path with panoramic views, or Speyer's UNESCO Romanesque cathedral, the largest of its kind in Europe.
Day 6 - Strasbourg
The La Petite France district, the Notre Dame Cathedral's famous astronomical clock, and the quiet streets of a city that sits precisely between France and Germany. Bike tour through the city and Parc de l'Orangerie also available.
Day 7 - Breisach / Colmar
Colmar looks much as it did in the 16th century. Walk its historic streets and admire the architecture of a town that time has treated well. Active options include a Kaiserstuhl hike through volcanic terrain and vineyards, or a wine country bike tour.
Day 8 - Basel
Disembarkation after breakfast. Post-cruise extensions to Lake Lucerne and Zurich are available on request.
